Fri3d Camp 2026 - Call for Proposal
Fri3d Camp is a biennial family-friendly summer camp for hackers, makers and DIY'ers. In 2026, we will have our sixth edition. 640 participants who enjoy getting creative with technology will meet each other from Friday 14 to Sunday 16 August 2026 at De Kluis in Sint-Joris-Weert, near Leuven (Belgium). Technology, electronics, science, creativity and art meet each other during this weekend in the woods.
We embrace the hacker ethos which consists of one rule: be excellent to each other. Each participant's sole task is to make the camp a top experience for everyone. You do this by actively participating and by sharing your projects, knowledge and experiences with everyone.
Enter : the Fri3d Camp 2026 Call for Proposal is your invitation to submit a proposal for an activity at Fri3d Camp. Everyone is free to organize workshops or other activities at Fri3d Camp. If you want a spot on the programme, a workshop location, certain support or infrastructure on the grounds? This is the way towards securing your spot!
Yes, you can contribute something too. We are convinced that everyone can learn something from their own interest. Important: your proposal does not have to be a lecture or workshop. You could, for example, build a tube station on the site, create a light art installation, organise a forest game or share whatever is on your mind... We are open to all proposals and would love to see how we can support you!
The stakes : fill in your proposal before the 15th of January 2026 and you and your family will be given priority to buy tickets. We will provide you with the space you need and discuss any additional support you may need to get your proposal to Fri3d.
Then in spring the Fri3d content team will start putting together the official Fri3d programme. Submitting to our CFP is the way to help shape the camp and secure your tickets to Fri3d Camp 2026 - so don't wait too long ^_^
Good to know: mails from the cfp will be send from the mail address fri3dcontent@awesomesauce.be. Didn't get a mail, check your spam!
Types of activities:
Talk: Got a great story, an idea, or something you just have to share? In a 20–30 minute talk, you get the stage to take your audience along on your journey.
Long talk: Sometimes you just need a bit more time to really dive in. This session (around 45–60 minutes) is perfect if you want to explain, show, or discuss something in depth.
Lightning talk: Short, snappy, and to the point — 5 to 10 minutes to share something fun, weird, or inspiring. Great for new ideas, small projects, or unexpected insights.
Workshop: Let’s get hands-on! In a workshop, participants learn by doing. Think building, writing, making, experimenting, or reflecting — as long as it’s active.
Installation (all-day): An experience people can drop into at any time. It could be an artwork, an interactive setup, a game, a soundscape — or something completely unexpected.
Other activity: Got an idea that doesn’t fit neatly into any of these boxes? Perfect! Tell us what you’d like to do, and we’ll figure out how to make it work together.
