In this workshop, participants will solder together a simple solar lantern kit. The kit consists a pcb, some through-holes components, a battery, and a solar panel. We will cover some basic solder technique, then assist the participants with assembling their kits. Finally the participants can use their solar light for the camp.
Please bring a clean, transparent plastic container with a lid for your finished solar lantern. The container serves as a waterproof enclosure for the electronics. We encourage participants to reuse an existing container, such as a clear plastic bottle, a small takeaway container, or a transparent cup with a lid, or miniature house, rather than buying something new.
You can choose the colour of the LED and make your solar light into a lantern, bike light, or something else.
