Mighties are portable audio players sold by Mighty Audio, Inc. that download contents from Spotify. Mighties only feature basic (physical) playback controls and have no display: Accessing Spotify audio without a smartphone (that's what they say)...but is it really? Spoiler: Not really - but don't fret, there's an open-source-solution for that.
We'll start with real-life usability implications for the scenario of a parent (with the Mighty app on their smartphone) and a kid (with a Mighty in their hands).
Than we'll take a (somewhat technical) deep-dive into how the Mighty system works (Mighty-Player, Mighty-App, Mighty-Server, Spotify and their interactions).
I'll present my open-source add-on solution "Mighty commander" for entirely eliminating the Smartphone in day-to-day usage with Mighties:
- Concept
- Syncing with Mighties (BLE)
- Syncing with Spotify (REST API)
- Implementation
- 3D printing files (STL and OpenCAD)
- Hardware-Components and schematics
- Software
